Then there's a third one identified as Elmer Joson, a jeepney driver, who on Monday went to Espiritu's wake together with his wife.
Joson admitted to reporters that Espiritu was his passenger the night before the tragic incident happened on Thursday. Suspicion of the driver's involvement in the crime grew after members of the victim's family noticed scratches and wounds on Joson's body.
When the couple came back at 3pm, Joson was arrested and was made to take his shirt off. Upon interrogation, he claimed to have sustained the claw marks and cuts during a quarrel with his wife earlier that day.
Supt. Concina noted in an interview that the suspect's scratches on the neck were still fresh while the wounds on his body were already partially healed.
