Calamba, Laguna- A Calamba shopper almost paid a whopping P2,852.05 for a pack of onions that normally cost just P50.00 at the SM Calamba Supermaket on July 9.
She also asked people to be wary when buying something, especially in big malls like SM and Robinsons, where cashiers are just relying on their systems.
System errors like what Ms. Lopez has experienced are common. As customers, it is always our responsibility to check the receipt. Some shopping malls, especially in grocery department have calculators installed in push carts to help the customer monitor the price while shopping.
We cannot blame the cashier especially in busy situations.

On a rant she posted on her facebook wall she describe the entire experience as 'Disappointing'.
“Everyone is warned. This morning, I went to SM Calamba Supermarket to buy some groceries. I went to cashier to pay, but I was shocked when the total amount listed on the receipt was more than P6K, despite having only few items.When I doubled check, I noticed that the cost of the onion in their system was P2,852.05. I immediately called their supervisor to check the system and she immediately voided the price. Well, if I did not check and trusted only to whatever punched by the cashier, I would have paid the price of gold,” --Lopez narrated on her Facebook wall.
