CEBU - Cicilio Cariñosa, 36, was arrested by the Cebu Public Safety Company in Cebu City Police Office. Cariñosa claims the Holy Spirit once told him to heal a world sick with corruption by using marijuana.
He plants marijuana in his front yard in Sitio Cogon, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City. His marijuana garden in full view of everyone.
During the surveillance, the police saw live marijuana in the garden. The cops immediately sent their report to Esguerra.
He was arrested along with 31-year-old Rasan Dayopay after he was discovered to be in the possession of marijuana leaves.
When he was arrested, Cariñosa pointed to a bottle of water and asked the police if he could drink it.
But when the police got the bottle, they found out that the water also had marijuana leaves in it.
Cariñosa claimed that he would drink bottled water with drenched marijuana leaves steeped in it every day and it helped alleviate his kidney problem.
The team of police confiscated at least 50 stalks of marijuana planted in the garden. “Luoy kaayo akong tanom kay pila ka buwan nako giatiman, gipamatay lang og sayon sa akong atubangan (I feel pity on my plants, which I had taken care for months, because they were killed in front of me),” Cariñosa said.
Cariñosa told the police that while reading the bible, he heard a voice that instructed him to plant marijuana because if not, no one would be able to help his neighbors.
He added that he will face the consequences and believes that he is innocent, adding that nowhere in the bible mentions planting marijuana is bad.
