We have heard of the common saying “start them young”. Now whether or not you agree with this phrase, there are indeed people who consider themselves lucky to have started their careers at such a young age. But one might ask, “How young is too young?”
That's the case forwarded by critics of nine-year-old Russian model Kristina Pimenova, who at a young age have already been photographed and featured in high fashion ads for designers like Armani, Roberto Cavalli, and Benetton. Largely responsible for Kristina’s early success at a modeling career is her mother Glikeriya Pimenova, who acts as her daughter’s manager and over-all in charge of the young girl’s social media accounts. Doing her best not to mind some of the online criticisms, Glikeriya, 39, does what she can to be a good mother to her budding supermodel daughter.
In several interviews, Glikeriya recounts how the lovely Kristina very much enjoyed having her photographs taken even since she was a lot younger. Kristina would even get numerous compliments on her charming young face and beautiful looks while out for errands with her mom. Since she loved all the attention, Glikeriya thought to enlist her daughter in a modeling agency for young girls. Soon after, photo shoots kept coming in and there was nothing stopping the young model from signing contracts and even being featured in Vogue magazine, shares her mother during an exclusive feature on MailOnline.
While Kristina’s good looks are undeniable in all her photos, critics have been quick to express concern with overexposing the rising model at such a young age. Glikeriya has also shared that some of her photo shoots and bookings have come in the way of her attending classes but she assures that like a good mother, she remains on top of her daughter’s schooling and makes sure Kristina doesn’t fall behind on her studies.
Like a true “momager”, Glikeriya is also quick to defend her daughter from online bashers who think her photos are too sexualizing for a girl yet to enter her teens. In the same interview, she says, “I do not accept those accusations about sexualisation of my child. I am certain in my mind all her photographs are absolutely innocent.” She adds, “[They] must think like a paedophile in order to see something sexual in these pictures, so it is time for [them] to see a doctor.”
