Another Kobe is taking basketball by storm and his last name is not Byrant. Many admire the brilliance displayed by Kobe Paras, son of PBA Tower of Power Benjie Paras and former actress Jackie Forster, on his recent success playing basketball in the United States of America.
Could he be the first pure blooded Filipino to play in the NBA?
December of last year Kobe flew to Los Angeles, California to play for Cathedral High School under a scholarship grant.
Kobe admitted that it wasn't easy moving abroad and fitting in on a new environment. Although only two weeks being abroad and getting to get used to his new environment, Kobe felt homesick and already mising his family back home.
So I just took it as motivation, at saka ginalingan ko na lang,” he added.

Because of his recent success, Kobe also caught the attention of various Division 1 universities in the United States. According to an online report, several universities already offered athletic scholarships to Kobe like University of California Irvine, Portland State University, and University of Texas at Arlington.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 is the highest in all intercollegiate athletic association in the Unites States and is often the breeding ground of future National Basketball Association superstars.
Kobe's greatest dream is to play in the NBA but, according to him, he must focused first finishing high school and go from there.
Kobe is currently in the Philippines practising with Batang Gilas Pilipinas for the upcoming FIBA Under-18 World Championship happening in Qatar on August 19-28.
Kobe's message to all Filipino basketball fans : “Suportahan niyo po kaming Under-18 Gilas Pilipinas po, happening at Qatar on August 19-28. Please support us.”
Could he be the next Kobe Bryant only time will tell.
