Among these reality competitions is the hit show Big Brother, which have been franchised in different countries due to its intriguing nature. For those not in the know, Big Brother is a show that houses a handful of people in a home studio full of mirrors and cameras. This is the home of Big Brother, a disembodied character who runs the show and speaks to the housemates residing in his home only with his voice heard through speakers all throughout the house.
Rumored to be among the most recent housemates to enter the 9th season of Big Boss, the Indian version of the famous reality show, is adult star Mia Khalifa. Mia is reported to be of Lebanese descent, moved to the United States when she was a teenager and eventually created quite the controversy for debuting as an adult film actress back in October 2014. Conservative citizens of the Middle East region have vehemently expressed their criticisms to Khalifa, some even claiming to be ashamed of what she has become. Reports have also been made that her family has also cut ties with her due to this bold career move.
In an interview with Khalifa’s parents they said, “We are probably paying the price of living away from our homeland; our kids had to adapt to societies that don’t resemble our culture, traditions and values.”
They add, “Hence, we emphasize that we disassociate ourselves from her actions which do not reflect her family beliefs, her upbringing or her true Lebanese roots. We hope that she comes back to her senses as her image does not honor her family or her homeland – Lebanon,”
Despite the outrage, Khalifa confirmed that she was indeed approached and offered to be part of the show, which will undoubtedly boost her career further. Such is the power of reality TV and is most certainly not for the faint of heart.
